What Can I expect from the first session

The first therapy session will be an assessment of your needs; that my level of training and expertise is the most appropriate to address these, and if the outcome you wants is achievable within a counselling setting. It is also a chance for you to decide if you feel comfortable talking and working with me and ask any questions you may have.

By the end of our first session I will ensure we have the time for us both to express if we feel we can work together collaboratively going forward, what our expectations are of each other and how we can work in the counselling process together to achieve these.

Should I feel that I have not established a clear understanding of what you wish to work with in therapy by the end of our first session/assessment, I will arrange to continue this on an additional mutually agreeable date with you at no additional cost regardless of whether it is a half or a full session required to complete a thorough assessment.
