Crossroads Counselling
What can I expect
FROM THE
FIRST SESSION
Your first session of therapy will be a gentle assessment of your needs.
It’s a chance for us to explore whether my training and experience are the right fit to support you, and whether the outcomes you’re hoping for feel achievable within a counselling setting. It’s also an opportunity for you to decide if you feel comfortable talking and working with me.
You’re welcome to ask any questions, share any concerns, and take as much time as you need to see if this feels like the right space for you.

By the end of our first session of therapy, we’ll take time to reflect together.
We’ll explore whether working together feels right, what we each expect from the process, and how we might collaborate to support the outcomes you’re hoping for.
This shared understanding helps lay the foundation for a therapeutic relationship built on trust, clarity, and mutual respect.
If, by the end of our first session, we haven’t reached a clear understanding of what you wish to explore in therapy, I will offer to continue the assessment into a second session.
Whether that follow-up is a half or full session, we’ll arrange it at a mutually convenient time assuring we have the space needed to establish a thoughtful and thorough foundation for our work together.
This is about honouring your story, not rushing the process.
I want you to feel heard, understood, and confident that we’re building something meaningful together.
